Sunderland were comfortably seen off by a Newcastle U21 side who have secured progression from their Premier League Cup group. The home side picked the visitors apart at their leisure really and that means we are done in this comp with one group game remaining.
No complaints here, disappointing because we want to be competitive in every game and competition and we weren't in the second group phase. But we can be happy we got here and now the last game will be like a glorified friendly for us so a good opportunity to look at some of the younger players in action.
