Wrexham trio set to depart

Following promotion to the Premier League, Wrexham have informed senior players Elijah Campbell, Ben Sheaf and Emile Smith-Rowe that they are free to leave the club.

Elijah Campbell appeared 12 times for Wrexham in their promotion winning campaign, coming off the bench 4 times. He managed a single goal, opening the scoring in the 2-1 home win against Southampton in matchday 6, and also managed an assist in the 3-1 League Cup win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Ben Sheaf appeared 34 times, 27 from the bench, but failed to hit the back of the net but did manage 2 assists, in the final day loss against Watford when he assisted Fabio Silva's goal and earlier in the season in the 2-1 loss against Burnley in the League Cup when he assisted Matheus Nunes. He has been a great servant to Wrexham and leaves with the managements gratitude and thanks.

Emile Smith-Rowe only played 11 times, 7 from the bench and managed a sole assist in the 3-1 win away to Wolves in the League Cup, the same game Elijah Campbell got an assist in. He was a late signing pre-season and was signed as cover for the team but he has been deemed surplus to requirements ahead of the new season.

Clayton number change

Tommy Clayton has been awarded the number 6 jersey after a successful breakout season following his promotion from the club academy. The 18 year old English defender started 34 games last season, contributing 2 goals, one assist and was behind only Josh Davidson and Ben Chrisene for key tackles as he helped Wrexham win promotion.

His first ever goal for the senior side came in just the third game of the season, when he scored the winning goal against Crystal Palace in a 2-1 win. He also scored a valuable goal to earn Wrexham a 1-1 draw at home to Queens Park Rangers in the League Cup. His assist came in the 2-0 win over Manchester City in the FA Cup.

Being given a key squad number in 6 shows the managers faith in the youngster as the team look to survive in the Premier League.

Wrexham pull off marquee signing

Wrexham F.C. have today announced the signing of 27 year old Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt for an incredible £290,000,000 from Liverpool. The defender, who has plenty of Premier League experience and pedigree having been involved in Liverpool's last 2 title challenging seasons, has been brought in as hopefully the missing piece of the jigsaw that might help keep Wrexham in the Premier League next season.

de Ligt has played 79 games across 2 seasons for Liverpool, scoring 3 goals and registering 2 assists and his other statistics are impressive too, having made a number of key tackles and passes.

Wrexham manager Daniel Mason has welcomed de Ligt to Wales, and is said to be looking very forward to seeing what the Dutchman can add to the Wrexham squad ahead of their debut season in the Premier League.

Further squad number changes

Wrexham have announced 3 further squad number changes brought about by player departures ahead of the new season. Star striker Benjamin Sesko has taken on his favoured number 10, which wasn't vacant when he joined but has been left vacant by the departure of Emile Smith-Rowe.

With Sesko taking 10, Portuguese striker Fabio Silva has taken the number 9.

New shirts with the players numbers are now available in the club shop with a 25% reduction if you bring in last seasons shirt for exchange.

England promoted to first team

New academy star, Isaac England, has been promoted straight to the senior side after impressing the coaching staff following his move to Wrexham from rivals Shrewsbury Town.

The 18 year old wonderkid will don the number 16 shirt for Wrexham and is expected to become a key member of the first team squad following a number of departures during the close season.

Biggs promoted to first team

Due to TDE youth rules, new academy recruit Lennon Biggs has been forcibly promoted to the first team despite the entire club management being insistent he is not ready for the first team yet.

Because of this forced promotion, Wrexham's academy is now understaffed and will likely remain that way going into the season.
