None of the Sunderland players hae attracted those sorts of bids (you'd probably have heard about it by now). But ten youth players were making their step up to the big boy grade this offseason and the club were forced into deciding who can stay and who should go. Additionally, in an absolute gift bonanza from the league, all clubs were granted a fresh intake of 4 youth players, the majority of whom are close to nailed on starters in the Championship. The sorts of players Sunderland are promoting this season are of better quality and potential than the sorts of contracted players they were ultimately relegated from the Prem with at the end of season 32, so after suffering through limited resources the development strategy is paying dividends.
First, the youth contracts:
S_Bio received the 'prodigy' contract of 1.5 main skills and three secndaries, taking him up to be comfortably Sunderland's best midfielder after a strong season on loan at the Norwich U21's.

Likewise, season 33 regular feature McDonnell has jetted off down under to the Harbour City, committing to a season long loan playing in the A-League for Sydney FC. This is made more tolerable for me as a Melbourne Victory fan, knowing that Sunderland got 17.1M for the loan too! It's hoped both players will come back and will provide the good kind of selection headache developing young players is famous for and the A-League running over summer will act as a crucible to either refine McDonnell into a star or
